琵琶的歷史十分悠久，四弦之間，流轉著古往今來的傳說。琵琶古時的形制象徵三才、五行和四季。其長度為三尺五寸，三尺象徵天、地、人，五寸象徵金、木、水、火、土，四根弦則象徵四季。琵琶的聲音能「絀邪存正。」意即：去除邪念，端正人心。隨著靈動的琵琶聲起，嫻雅的古代宮娥腰肢輕折，蓮步款款而來。雅正的古樂聲在西方交響樂的襯托下，展現出強大的感染力，這是神韻音樂的特色。

For thousands of years, the plucked pipa has reigned as the “king” of Chinese folk instruments. Also known as the Chinese lute, the pipa embodies many key features of traditional Chinese belief. Its length (3.5 chi) represents heaven, earth, man, and the five elements. Further, the four strings represent the four seasons. By itself, the pipa expresses a vast array of emotions and colors – from the elegant footsteps of young maidens to the perils of war. The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra features pipa in tandem with classical orchestra – an utterly unique sound.
